Assessment and treatment of ear wax blockage. Includes examination of both ears and syringing if soft wax is present.
Before your appointment: Please use over-the-counter wax softening ear drops for 3 days, available from any pharmacy without a prescription.
Ear syringing carries a small risk of temporary dizziness, tinnitus, discomfort, or failure to fully remove all wax. Rarely, perforation of the eardrum can occur.
If ear infection is identified, a medical consultation is included in this appointment.

Blood testing services are reserved for active registered patients of Suffolk Street Surgery (attended in within the past 24 months). Tests must be authorised by an Irish Medical Council registered Consultant. At the time of scheduling, please supply the Consultant's contact information. Results are typically available within two weeks. As we only facilitate a select range of routine tests, please verify availability by emailing your requirements prior to booking; payments are non-refundable for unauthorised or unavailable tests.
Routine ADHD care for adults already established on medication started by a specialist ADHD service. Includes repeat prescribing for the following six months where appropriate, and a cardiovascular check covering blood pressure, heart rate, height and weight. ECG and blood tests, where needed, are charged separately. Full details, including what we need before taking over a prescription, are at suffolkstreetsurgery.ie/adhd. Blood pressure + BMI + Bloods: full blood count, HbA1c, renal function, liver function, lipid panel, virology (HIV, Hep B&C, VZV), Quantiferon Tb test (separate laboratory)
Assessment to discuss and plan a minor surgical procedure. The procedure itself is not done at this appointment. If surgery is suitable, the doctor will explain what the procedure involves, how long it takes and the aftercare, and will quote the fee. The procedure is then scheduled for a separate visit. The subsequent procedure fee includes histology where a specimen is sent. Some procedures can be billed directly to your health insurer where your policy covers it, and this is confirmed with you before anything is arranged. If minor surgery turns out not to be suitable, or you decide not to go ahead, you pay the consultation fee only.

Consultation to assess a keloid scar or similar condition, with injection at the same visit where suitable. The consultation fee is paid at booking. Where an injection is given, a procedure fee of €60 is charged in addition. If no injection is given, no procedure fee applies.
Corticosteroid injection of the knee or shoulder, carried out by a doctor. The appointment includes assessment of the joint and the injection where it is suitable. The consultation fee is paid at booking. Where an injection is given, a procedure fee of €70 is charged in addition, or billed directly to your health insurer where your policy covers it. If the doctor judges that an injection is not appropriate, no procedure fee applies.
Liquid nitrogen freeze treatment for certain skin lesions and conditions. The appointment includes assessment of the lesion and treatment where it is suitable. The consultation fee is paid at booking. Where treatment is given, a procedure fee of €100 is charged in addition, or billed directly to your health insurer where your policy covers it. Some lesions need more than one treatment. Follow-up treatments are booked with the practice nurse.

For children aged 6 months to 17 in the HSE eligible groups. Free. Most children aged 2 to 17 get the flu vaccine as a nasal spray. Children under 2, and some children with certain medical conditions, get an injection instead. Book one seat per child. A parent or guardian must attend. Tell us if your child has had a flu vaccine in school this season, or a severe reaction to a previous vaccine.
For people aged 65 and over. Free for eligible patients. Flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given at the same visit. Book one seat per person. Tell us if you have had either vaccine elsewhere this season, or a severe reaction to a previous vaccine.
